In honor of the official end of engagement season and Valentine’s day, I wanted to do a little blog on my ring!
Parker and I didn’t go ring shopping together, because I specifically didn’t want to. While I had definitely pinned some things I liked to a secret Pinterest board (it’s hard to resist), I wanted it to be a gift from him that he envisioned. And boy oh boy I’m so glad I did. In a million years, I never would have thought of a ring that looked like that and I never would have picked it out for myself but I absolutely LOVE it.
Parker actually had the idea in his head and worked with a jeweler to design it just for little ‘ol me! The setting is simple but elegant, which sums up my style in a nutshell. He also incorporated two lighter sapphires on either side of the main diamond. I’m not going to lie, when he proposed and popped open that ring box, I was completely taken aback to see a flash of color. I have to give him props, because that’s a bold decision to make without any input. I think a lot of guys would play it safe, but he went with the high-risk rout and it paid off big time!
This blue inspired our wedding colors and has grown into part of my Madison Cole Photography brand. This slate blue had become subtly woven into who I am. Not superficially, but in a real and meaningful way. When some people think of love they think of pink, purple or red hues associated with Valentine's Day. Not me. I think of that blue. Because that blue was the color the person I love the most used to show me how much he loved me.
So call it crazy, but blue is the color I associate with love. Which seemed fitting for a business built around capturing love - the love of couples, brides, parents and families.
Do you have a great story behind you ring? Tell me about it!
